 Hello families, 

This was a busy week at Ramsay school as we took time to participate in the Terry Fox run, as well as honour Orange Shirt day. 

In Math, Both grade 2 and 3 students started looking at number sense and place value with 2 digit and 3 digit numbers. Early in the week we practiced building numbers using base ten blocks and then began to talk about pulling apart numbers by using expanded form. We talked about the hundreds, tens and ones place and what that means when looking at numbers.

 Hello families, 

Thank you to everyone who was able to join for today's meet the teacher at the school. If you would like to set up another time to meet with me, please don't hesitate to email me. 

This week student's participated in a soccer residency at the school. It was great to see the effort and hard work students put in to learning some new skills, and the excitement they had each morning to play soccer!

 Hello families, 

This week we had a discussion about art throughout history. We started by looking at examples of cave art that is over 3000 years old. Students made great observations and said that art is important because it lets people from along time ago tell their stories. We thought about what would be important for a person who lived 3000 years in the past? Students then had a chance to create their own cave art using charcoal pastel, creating an image that represents something important to them.

 Hello Grade 2/3 families!

This week we dove into writing by creating our ideas building using different materials. This gave students the opportunity to generate writing ideas before putting pencil to paper. There was some great teamwork and sharing of ideas in small groups through this process. The next steps for our class is to sequence the events of our stories using storyboards before creating our very first rough draft.
