October 21st, 2022

 Hello families,

This week in math we have been reviewing mental math strategies. We began the week reviewing our numbers that add to make ten, and making ten to solve addition problems. Next we practiced our doubles (2+2, 3+3, 4+4, etc) and played games to help us become faster at solving these problems. Last, we looked at addition problems where we can use the doubles +1 strategy to solve (7+8, 8+9, etc.) Students are encouraged to continue to practice these strategies as we get into some trickier math problems.

Notes for Next Week:
Monday, October 24th- Library Book Return
Wednesday, October 26th- Tentative Community Walk (Parent volunteer still needed!)
Friday- PD day no school for students

 Hello families,

This week in spelling we have been working with words that use "ee" and "ea." Students went on a scavenger hunt around the classroom to spot words that have these letter combinations. Then we played a game of "I have____ who has____" using ee and ea words. Students had to listen to hear the word on their card and then call out the next word in order.

Notes for Next Week:

Monday- Library Book Return Day

 Hello Families,

This week during our reading students have been practicing making predictions at the beginning or a story and the middle of a story. We discussed how making predictions is a strategy that good readers use to take information from the story to make a reasonable guess as to what might happen next in the story. After reading, students reflected on their predictions and if they were correct or not.
